We are excited to announce the 5th annual Contractors for Hope will be held Spring of 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, Scott Rankin and Keith Paulos, colleagues who shared a deep concern for the pressing need of food and non-perishable items in our local community, were profoundly moved. Harvest Hope, our local food bank, found itself grappling with an unprecedented surge in demand, struggling to meet the overwhelming need.
Driven by their desire to make a difference, Rankin and Paulos hastily organized a community event at a nearby brewery. This impromptu gathering managed to raise almost $2,000, opening their eyes to the potential for a more substantial impact. Both working in the construction industry, they recognized that the strength and support of their industry could be harnessed for this noble cause.
With this realization, Rankin and Paulos founded 'Contractors for Hope,' dedicating their efforts to the community they knew intimately. The response from the construction industry has been nothing short of remarkable.
Now entering its fourth year, Contractors for Hope has successfully raised over $82,000 and collected 10,000 pounds of non-perishable items, with the ambitious aim of reaching the $100,000 milestone during this year's event. This translates to providing over 500,000 nourishing meals for those in our community who face food insecurity and dire need.
In the Midlands, a staggering statistic reveals that 1 in 6 people, including over 100,000 children, grapple with the harsh reality of hunger every single day. Harvest Hope serves as a vital lifeline by offering a foundational level of security through its food pantry on Shop Rd. in Columbia. Their mission is succinct yet profound:
"To eradicate hunger and food insecurity in South Carolina."
Contractors for Hope operates with a singular objective: to mobilize resources and spread awareness through our annual fundraiser, all in steadfast support of Harvest Hope's mission to abolish food insecurity in the Midlands.
Supporting Harvest Hope Food Bank comes in many forms. For every $1 donation they receive, Harvest Hope can secure roughly 4 meals. You can donate through Venmo @contractorsforhope or scan QR Code above. Follow the "Donate" button below to use a Credit Card.
